Clinical Supervision

In becoming licensed as a professional counselor, supervision is essential to assist in developing clinical and professional skills. Supervision is to create a context in which the supervisee can gain experience in becoming an independent professional. The supervisory role serves as a supporter, teacher, consultant, counselor, advisor and mentor. Goals of supervision: (1) promoting supervisee growth and development through teaching, (2) protecting the welfare of the client, (3) monitoring supervisee performance and gatekeeping for the profession; and (4) empowering the supervisee to self-supervise and carry out these goals as an independent professional

Consultation

The value of having an understanding, professional peer, to consult with concerns is extremely necessary in the field of counseling.

Consulting with another helping professional provides benefits in various forms to include decreased vicarious trauma, increased positive growth and success in the counseling field, responsibility for assessing personal growth, increased self-confidence, self-direction, and independence to name a few.
